Tomorrow is officially Valentines day and all hearts the world over are a flutter wondering who they will be receiving special valentines day treats from. It’s a day where kids are often left out of the celebrations on the premise that they are too young to understand what the day is all about. I would encourage you to ban that thinking from your house this year and get them involved, and what better way to do that than to get them involved in a few foodie related valentines activities!
This little Valentine activity is just so easy its crazy! All you need is:
- An Apple (I chose one that was read to go with the theme)
- A heart shaped cookie cutter
- A jar of almond nut butter
To Assemble slice the apple up in roughly 1 cm wide slices. Use the heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out a heart and “core” the center of the apple. serve on a pretty plate with a big dollop of almond nut butter to dunk your apple into and – Viola – Simple, fun kids snack is served!
As some of you I’m sure are aware I’m a Pinterest addict (no really if I could find a day job where I got to stare at pretty pictures all day and pin them to ever growing inspiration boards I would jump at it). I love the idea of collecting ideas in one place to refer back to at a later date… I treat each board as a visual mood board of sorts.
Head on through and check out my Valentines day board and see if there is anything that tickles your fancy that the kids could get involved in…. I love these two ideas: A heart shaped citrus salad or find a low-carb pancake recipe and make these heart shaped pancakes to serve to someone with their morning paper in bed.
